Pierluigi Cocco,

University of Cagliari


Prof. Pierluigi Cocco graduated at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Cagliari in 1977, and he specialized (cum laude) in Occupational Medicine in 1981. Took postgraduate courses in Epidemiology in Rome, Italy, and Southampton, UK. Guest Researcher and visiting scientist at the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, Occupational Studies Branch, NCI, NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, USA from 1987 to 1996 (five years overall while employed as assistant professor of research in Occupational Medicine at the University of Cagliari). In those years, worked with the NCI colleagues to develop new job-exposure matrices for occupational epidemiology studies. From 1998 onwards contributed to the expert assessment of occupational exposures in multicentre case-control studies on lymphoma aetiology. CUrrently position: associate professor of Occupational Medicine at the University of Cagliari, Italy. Member of various international  scientific committees and professional societies. Author of more than 400 publications. Reviewer for the major international occupational health journals.
