The role of Product risk assessment in Dow’s EHS Business Risk Review process

Time: 10:30 - 12:15

Date: 4/29/2015

The Personal, Professional and Business Value of Interdisciplinary Collaboration on Product Risk Assessment

The proposed half-day symposium focuses on the value created when industrial hygienists partner with related disciplines such as product stewardship and toxicology to manage the risks of products over their lifecycle. The motivation for this symposium is that, by highlighting examples of successful partnerships we also encourage consideration of career opportunities across the professions. A half-day (3-hour) symposium is proposed. The first session will provide via oral presentations a focused overview of key enablers of collaboration between disciplines. The second session will allow participants to explore examples of interdisciplinary collaboration by rotating among seven poster presentations in a “market place.” All presenters are confirmed and abstracts and speaker bios are provided.

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Know about Product Stewardship (PS) opportunities and their development needs should they wish to pursue work in the PS field;
  • Feel empowered; and
  • Inspired to take action.

Who is this for?

  1. Occupational / Industrial hygienists and exposure scientists who want to know more about how to build and deepen competency in PS
  2. Product Stewards, environmentalists, toxicologists who wish to deepen their knowledge and development

Objectives

To Introduce Product Stewardship as a profession and outline how Occupational / Industrial Hygiene professionals can build their depth of understanding and competencies. To Illustrate applied product stewardship and multidisciplinary working through the use of topic-based case studies
