Thomas Göen,

Biography

Thomas Göen is chemist and started his career in the field of occupational safety and medicine at the Institute of Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (IPASUM) in 1991. In 1998 he moved to the Aachen University of Technology (RWTH) as head of the analytical and toxicological laboratory. In 2005, he returned to IPASUM, where he is heading the analytical and toxicological laboratory. His scientific interest is focused on the development of biomarkers and the metabolism of hazardous substances in human. Thomas Göen is member of the Senate Commission for the Investigation of Hazardous Compounds in the Work Area of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and chairman of the working group “Analysis of Hazardous Substances in Biological Materials”. He is also member of the Human Biomonitoring Commission of the German Federal Environmental Agency and of the organizing committee of the German External Quality Assessment Scheme (G-EQUAS).
