Alistair Fraser

Vice President Health, Royal Dutch Shell, Shell

Biography

Alistair Fraser is a graduate of Aberdeen University Medical School.  He is currently the Vice President of Health for Royal Dutch Shell plc based in The Hague, Netherlands.  He leads policy, strategy and delivery of health to all Shell operations worldwide. This includes a broad portfolio of offshore exploration and production, extreme remote sites, major construction projects, manufacturing complexes including refineries and chemical plants, mining, distribution, retail, tankers, aircraft, office sites, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals and community projects. The Shell Health team includes industrial hygienists, human factor engineers, psychologists, social marketing, toxicology, eco-toxicology, occupational, clinical and public health nurses and doctors. Alistair has worked in multiple locations with Shell including UK offshore and onshore, Oman, Sarawak, USA and Nigeria.  Prior to Shell he also worked in the Antarctic and offshore Madagascar. Professional interests include redefining the role and increasing the impact of health in business, improving human performance and psychological capital through positive psychology and behavioural economics approaches, risk perception communication, health leadership, enhancing remote medical care and promoting health as a business enabler, in addition to ensuring that the health risks to employees, contractors and communities are managed consistently and effectively. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow and a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science by Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
