Bernadette Quémerais,

University of Alberta

Biography

Dr. Quémerais was trained in France where she obtained her degree in Food Engineering from University of Dijon in 1985 and her PhD in Molecular Chemistry from University of Nantes in 1988. In 1989 she moved to Quebec to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in Geochemistry at University of Quebec in Montreal. She then worked 6 years for the St. Lawrence Centre (Environment Canada, Montreal) where she specialized in the transport of contaminants in the St. Lawrence River. In 2001, she joined the Canadian Forces and became a Bioscience Officer. She completed her Master in Occupational and Environmental Health at University of Toronto in 2006. Dr. Quémerais stayed in the military for over 9 years, during which she mainly worked as an Occupational Hygienist at Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) Toronto. Dr. Quémerais joined the University of Alberta in May 2012. Her primary focus is in exposure assessment.
