This medicine is used to treat various bacterial infections, such as eye, ear, skin, soft tissue, urinary tract, bladder, prostate, respiratory tract, sinuses, lung, kidney infections, chlamydia, gonococcal, streptococcal infections, bronchitis, pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, gastroenteritis, chronic prostatitis, sexually transmitted epididymitis, nongonococcal urethritis, anthrax, plague, cellulitis, endocarditis, traveler's diarrhea, otitis media, cystic fibrosis; with other antibiotics for combined therapy of tuberculosis, meningitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, during cataract surgery, in veterinary medicine. The spectrum of activity includes Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, anaerobes, atypical bacterial pathogens, such as Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila, Moraxella catarrhalis, Mycobacterium avium complex, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes.
